It's time for a cover reveal!

And if you love dark YA fantasy filled with court intrigue and romance, a main character coming to terms with asexuality, and incredible twists, this particular cover reveal character is really going to make your day.

But before we get to the good stuff, here's a summary of Beyond the Black Door by A.M. Strickland:

Everyone has a soul. Some are beautiful gardens, others are frightening dungeons. Soulwalkers—like Kamai and her mother—can journey into other people's souls while they sleep.

But no matter where Kamai visits, she sees the black door. It follows her into every soul, and her mother has told her to never, ever open it.

When Kamai touches the door, it is warm and beating, like it has a pulse. When she puts her ear to it, she hears her own name whispered from the other side. And when tragedy strikes, Kamai does the unthinkable: she opens the door.

Sounds amazing, right?

And if that wasn't enough, here's a note from A.M. Strickland about the cover, the book, and the OMG-ness of it all.

I’ve been the most nervous about this cover, probably because Beyond the Black Door is very much a “book-of-my-heart.” How to capture the strange magic of walking in people’s souls, the dark mystery surrounding the black door and the royal court, the twisty romance between my characters, and the fantastical and even occasionally nightmarish settings? When my editor asked me what I had in mind, I said, “Something dark? Maybe the black door? Maybe a bottomless staircase? Here’s an aesthetics board on Pinterest!” I didn’t know what to expect.

Authors don’t often have a say in how their covers turn out, and yet I am amazed that mine has so much of what I wanted despite my not having a clear picture of how it would come together. It is certainly dark and mysterious, and there’s a definite fantastical feel in the cool textural detail. And it shows both the door and the staircase through the ingenious keyhole idea, which lends a sense of vertigo to the whole thing, making you feel like you’re almost falling into the book and down that bottomless staircase with my main character, Kamai. Not to mention it’s simply beautiful! I couldn’t imagine a more perfect cover for Beyond the Black Door, and I can’t wait for you all to fall into the story this October. Enjoy!

So, are you REALLY, REALLY ready to see this cover?!?
